Gastonia, Carolina del Nord (WBTV) - Una madre di Gastonia è molto preoccupata per il suo bimbo di soli tre mesi per le complicazioni in seguito all’intervento di circoncisione eseguito in ospedale.

When Christy Falls elected to have her newborn son circumcised, she trusted the procedure would go just fine. But within hours of bringing little Josiah home, things took a turn for the worse.

"Dopo aver portato a casa il piccolo Giosia ho notato un pannolino pieno di sangue, completamente pieno di sangue, e mi sono spaventata enormemente", ha detto Falls.

La madre ha preso immediatamente il bambino e lo ha portato di corsa con l’auto al più vicino al pronto soccorso dove i medici sono riusciti a fermare l'emorragia.

"They told me they had cut a vein, he told me that," said Falls.
It's enough to make any parent cringe.
But as it turns out, what happened to little Josiah is not unheard of.

I medici si difendono: "Prendiamo tutte le precauzioni per ridurre al minimo tali rischio, ma può succedere, le complicazioni in seguito a circoncisioni di routine non sono rare", ha detto un pediatra durante l'intervista alla WBTV.

The doctor has experience in infant circumcisions, but did not perform Josiah's surgery.

Ma non c'è una regola che dice che è necessario come intervento medico, i genitori devono essere consapevoli dei possibili rischi e complicazioni.

"It's something that we leave up to the parents to decide and our role as pediatricians is to help inform them of the risks," the doctor told WBTV.

Josiah is still healing.

Doctors don't anticipate any further complications, but Falls worries there could be some down the road.
She hopes other parents learn from her ordeal.
"I would do extra research, check all the pros and cons," she said.
Falls is considering filing a lawsuit against the doctor's office.

A Johannesburg doctor has been jailed for 10 years after a three-year-old boy died following circumcision surgery.

Un medico di Johannesburg è stato condannato a 10 anni dopo che un bambino di 3 anni è morto in seguito a circoncisione.

Il dottor Charles Mdamombe - che ha cercato di fuggire dopo l'intervento fallito - è stato riconosciuto colpevole di omicidio colposo per la morte di Chinonso Onyenekwu presso il Poly Lister clinica a Johannesburg nel gennaio 2009.

Dr Charles Mdamombe - who tried to flee after the botched operation - was found guilty of culpable homicide in the death of Chinonso Onyenekwu at the Lister Poly Clinic in Johannesburg in January 2009.

The boy did not wake up after the surgery and Mdamombe failed to examine him despite repeated attempts by a nurse to alert the doctor to the boy's deteriorating condition.

Botya ha saputo da un infermiera che il bambino aveva smesso di respirare. Ha segnalato questo al dottor Mdamombe che ha optato per terminare il pranzo prima di rispondere. Ha poi dichiarato che il bambino era "morto".

L'infermiera aveva chiamato altre quattro volte prima del suo arrivo e aveva tentato di rianimare il bambino.

Mdamombe ha poi cercato di fuggire ma il padre del bambino, Douglas Onyenekwu, è riuscito ad agguantare lui con l'aiuto di due guardie di sicurezza. La polizia è stata chiamata ed è stato prontamente arrestato.

Mdamombe also failed to ensure that the child had not eaten for six hours prior to a general anaesthetic being administered - and this resulted in him choking to death as the contents of his stomach pushed up into his lungs. [Since the circumcision was unnecessary, the circumcision killed him.]

Botya said another nurse had told her the child had stopped breathing. She reported this to Mdamombe who opted to finish his lunch before responding. He thereafter told her the child was "fine".

The nurse called him a further four times before he arrived and attempted to resuscitate the boy.

Mdamombe then tried to run away but the child's father, Douglas Onyenekwu, managed to nab him with the help of security guards. Police were called and he was arrested.

The 41-year-old was also convicted of practising without being registered with the Health Professions Council of SA.

Chinonso's mother, Lerato, welcomed the sentence. "I am happy that the doctor has been punished. This should serve as a lesson to other doctors that if they make a mistake like this one, they will go to jail."

She said Chinonso had been full of beans when he played with his elder brother the day before the surgery. She said: "My child was not sick when I walked into the clinic with him. That man killed him."

Bimbo morto dopo la circoncisione, genitori condannati
Cinque mesi ai genitori del bimbo morto dopo la circoncisione rituale

I genitori nigeriani di un bambino di due anni, morto nel giugno del 2008 per le conseguenze di una circoncisione praticata in ambiente domestico, sono stati condannati a Treviso alla pena di cinque mesi di reclusione ciascuno per il reato di morte avvenuta come conseguenza di altro delitto, con riferimento all'abuso di professione medica.

Per gli stessi capi d'accusa in precedenza aveva patteggiato una pena detentiva pari ad un anno la donna alla quale era stata commissionata la pratica, una connazionale residente nel veneziano. L'operazione abusiva avvenne in una casa di Spresiano (Treviso).

Il piccolo fu trovato nella sua culla, poche ore dopo l'intervento, ormai privo di vita a causa del dissanguamento.

Dissanguato nella culla nel 2008, oggi il padre e la madre sconteranno cinque mesi per morte avvenuta come conseguenza di altro delitto, cioè l’abuso della professione medica

Una circoncisione fatta in casa e riuscita male è costata la vita a un bambino nigeriano di due anni, e cinque mesi di carcere ai genitori del piccolo. L’episodio si è verificato nel 2008 nel trevigiano, quando per seguire le pratiche religiose del paese d’origine, la coppia si rivolse a una concittadina per portare a termine l’operazione. Il reato è quello di morte avvenuta come conseguenza di altro delitto, cioè l’abuso della professione medica. Stessa accusa è toccata all’esecutrice materiale della circoncisione, che aveva patteggiato una pena detentiva di un anno per le medesime accuse.

A distanza di poche ore dall’operazione abusiva, avvenuta in una casa di Spresiano, il bambino fu ritrovato nella sua culla morto a causa del dissanguamento.
